Cody & I went on a camping trip 2 weeks after meeting each other; It was at the end of August so it was hot & humid and we stayed in a 1 person crawl-in tent. If our legs touched, they would fuse together due to sweat {defiantly a bonding experience}, it was horrible & hilarious! Since then, camping has become a tradition so when our friends invited us to Lake Livingston State Park we of course said yes. This was our first time visiting Lake Livingston State Park & it was our first time not camping in a tent- instead we stayed in what LLSP calls a "screened in shelter." It's a 150 sq ft wooden shelter with screens as walls, it has a picnic table inside, & a ladder that leads to a loft bed {which we didn't utilize, I figured the closer to the ceiling the closer to spiders- so we slept on our queen size cot air mattress instead}. Cody went canoeing {which lead to unintentional swimming}, we went fishing, played horse shoes & bags; There even was an adventure when we heard a lady scream "HELP!" from across the lake. The boys had to canoe out to "save" her & her dog {she got lost in the woods while hiking}. Highlights: It's only $30 a night, there are restrooms nearby, and it has electricity {we brought our window A/C unit. Yep, that's glamping people}, the campfire disco, playing cards against humanity, hearing the kids tell jokes, & the memories/bonding made with friends {corny but true}.
Hiccups: When the canoe filled up with water murdering Cody's phone, how wet the bathroom floor was, not bringing pajama pants to help stay warm at night, & the caterpillars that fought back! Travel Tips: Pets are not allowed in park structures {but they are in your RV and/or personal tent}, book the screened shelters early {they go fast}, & bring a sheet to make a changing station. Total Miles Traveled: 179.2
